Computing

We aim for the children's computing learning to fit within Colvestone's wider thematic curriculum. We want the children to use a blend of logical thinking and creativity to solve problems that are real and relevant.

We use resources from the Switched On Computing programme of study that give the children an experience of technology’s real-world applications, for example in Game Development, Architecture and Cryptography. There is an emphasis on practical experience of writing computer programs.

The children will be supported in developing their skills in the following areas:

  • Programming
  • Computational thinking
  • Creativity
  • Computer networks
  • Communication
  • Collaboration
  • Productivity

We have a dedicated STEM room (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) which encourages the children to develop their skills in these areas to enable them to be significant contributors in a global system.
