Hackney Borough Youth Choir

Dear Primary Music Team

As promised, some info about getting your pupils involved with the Hackney Borough Youth Choir, who lots of you will have seen perform at the Festival in the Round Chapel last summer. The choir is made up of pupils from schools across the borough and will this term be preparing for a performance at the Hackney Empire for the Annual HMS Gala Concert which takes place in January 2024. We would LOVE to have all Hackney primary schools represented in the Gala this year. So please do encourage any of your keen Yr4+ singers to get involved.

There are heavily subsidised termly membership fees to be a member of the choir (£30 / £15), in some cases schools fund pupils to be part of the choir as part of their own school offer, in other cases families fund the places directly. Happy to chat through this.

We always offer pupils the chance to come and have a free of chance taster session before committing to join, to see if they like it or not. Pupils can come for a taster at any time, but we start back next Wednesday 27th September so that would be an ideal time.

Please do share the attached flyer among any young people families / young people that you think might be interested in getting involved - if it can be shared with Yr4-6 on the school app, shared on the school website, emailed home, printed and stuck up in the reception area, anything else you can think of, that would be great!

The taster will be held at Cardinal Pole School 4.30 - 5.30pm, all details can be found by scanning the QR code on the flyer. If your young people are not able to attend next Wednesday they can get in touch to organise a different date.
